Cloud Infrastructure Software VMware Applies for OpenStack Gold MembershipVMware has applied to become a Gold member of the OpenStack Foundation, according to a report by GigaOM. Existing OpenStack Gold members include Dell, MorphLabs, Cloudscaling, NetApp and Cisco Systems.NEC and Intel are also expected to submit applications, which will be reviewed at the OpenStack Foundation board meeting on Tuesday.GigaOM calls the announcement since when OpenStack was launched two years ago, it was as a competitive response to VMware’s server virtualization dominance inside company data centers.
