Rabobank Environmental Graphics & Signage

Rabobank is the world’s leading food and agribusiness bank, based in the Netherlands, who recently completed a total refurbishment of their existing Sydney HQ into a new agile environment, becoming a regional hub for their Australia and New Zealand markets.

After enlisting Geyer Sydney for the interior design, THERE were commissioned to help develop their internal branding and signage across 5 floors of new workplace.

Drawing inspiration from the business’ core agricultural offer we developed a series of textural patterns reminiscent of forms found in farming, and in particular the distinct graphic language of cartography and land-mapping. Using these patterns, we distributed them across a variety of touchpoints throughout the space.

A primary driver for the application of graphic was to ensure seamless integration with Geyer’s interior-design, which utilised a warm, ‘domestic’ materiality throughout the fit out.
The outcome was a bold monochromatic graphic paired with a simple wayfinding system, resulting in an ‘understated and elegant’ spatial experience that helped to harmonise different floors and spaces. Large graphic walls became intuitive orientation devices, whilst simple, delicate iconography was used in a contemporary application to help animate the classic interior backdrop.

The final outcome not only works from a operational aspect, but helps to capture the essence of the overall design by Geyer and enhances the ‘residential’ feel as well as adding a subtle element of fun and elegance.
